Thanksgiving fun with Girls

How do you like my new hair color?

Okay so one of my cousins was sharing her tragic story of new-hair-color-and-cut-gone-wrong. Long story short, after several attempts to fix it (including 6 hours in the salon one day), they decided to go for an alternative: a wig. After several family members got to try it on, the craze caught on, and some of us girls decided to go do some shopping lol. Here is what our one-stop shopping trip looked like. Enjoy.

I always wondered what I would look like with blonde hair...discovered that I just can't rock it. But this wig was my absolute fav. My dream hair. sigh.

Cousin Bethie

oh that wig...

my cousins...what can I say?

Sierah can totally rock my fav wig!!
Of course, she is a natural blonde so it looks absolutely gorgeous on her!

Don't think I can go dark, either.

Here is Kaley with her English Parliament wig.
Another try with the blonde for me...still not working.

Kinda liked this one. I think it look better on me than anything else.
Too many highlights for me, though...maybe.

maybe not...

Can't really go short either.

Picture perfect princess

Letters from War, Part 2

I just wanted you to know I was thinking of you today and hope everything is going well. You are probably traveling today so I'm praying for your safety. I have a long trip today too. Probably 15 to 18 hours depending on the winds. I should be back in time for thanksgiving Dinner or at least Midnight Chow!! We have been very fortunate, most of our missions have been successful. God is definately protecting us. I appreciate your prayers.
If I don't get to talk to you in the next couple of days just know I am Thinking of you and Love You very much. please say hellow to all my friends and loved ones.

Cowboys

A few weeks ago, I got to go to an OSU football game with my brother for his birthday. He absolutely loves OSU and I was so glad to have the chance to spend time with him. We were together ALL. DAY. LONG. :) I know some of you will be upset that I went to an OSU football game (and some of you will love it), but I was just cherishing the time with my bro because I don't get that anymore.

If it looks like I am half asleep in these pics, it's because I am. They were taken at 7:15 am on a Saturday.

Kendall Hunter is one of Christopher's fav football players. He was drooling when Hunter came out on the field...

We had really good seats; we were right behind the goal posts as you can see in the pictures. In the above picture, the ball is still far away because just as I snapped the picture, I realized the ball was coming right at me (there were no nets on the posts). I pulled my camera down, and saw that the ball was closing in fast. I ducked and leaned toward Chris. The ball hit the bleachers where I had been sitting...talk about exciting! Bailey must have kicked it right to me! lol! And no, I didn't get to keep the ball...they wanted it back.

This is one of my favorites. I love how 74 is "parting the waters" for Weeden. ;)
I would have gotten better pics, but my camera batteries died...grrr. I was trying not to be mad at myself for not charging them. Silly me.

Update

I got an email from my dad this morning saying that they made it back with "partial success."

Thanks for the prayers, please keep it up! I know that his unit is wearing down from the numerous deployments recently. Even though they don't stay over there long, they go frequently, and I think my dad was dreading it this time. I got to talk to him on the phone for the first time on Sunday, and his voice sounded different. I could tell he was tired, but there was something else that I couldn't quite put my finger on. I think he is ready to be home.

On a side note, he said it is hard for them to get good spaghetti sauce over there, so if you are sending a care package to the troops, you might slip in a jar of spaghetti sauce. I'm sure they would appreciate it. :)

Please Pray

My mom just sent me this text regarding my dad:

Kerry is asking for prayer. He said they have a difficult assignment today. For him to say that must be bad. I thought they were all difficult.

I would appreciate prayers for him and his crew!

Quotes to note

"Depression often occurs because we listen to ourselves instead of talk to ourselves. We need to turn off the thoughts of anxiety, fear, & doubt and start preaching God's truth to ourselves."

"Suffering is like a pile of rocks. You can choose to carry the load, throw them at someone, just let it lay there, or you can build an altar."
...
And just for laughs, here is one of my favorite pics:

Letters from War

I have become the road builder here. There was a big puddle in front of our hooch that every one was annoyed with, so yesterday I started picking up the larger rocks from around our B huts and filling in the hole. Every one thought it was funny at first. I told them this is how the Romans did it. One of the guys said that's probably how the first Pyramid got started, with a mud hole in front of Pharaohs hooch. but then some people started helping me and soon we had the whole thing filled up. One of my friends said ' bet you wish you had one of your dads backhoes'. I had found a shovel and a bucket buy then so I said it was an Afghani backhoe! I guess the First Sergent and Chief had been trying to get a load of gravel hauled in for a while. The First Sergent came buy tonight and told me the Chief was impressed and wanted me to fill in some more holes.
Today we hauled a certain 4 Star around all day. You can probably guess who? ...Alot of press. Ate breakfast with the Britts and lunch with the Italians and Spaniards! Fun Fun! We'll see who needs a ride tomorrow?
Good to hear from you!
Love, Dad
